August 2024 Newsletter — Fall Scheduling & Fees

Fall 2024 lesson scheduling begins, updated fee structure for the 2024-2025 school year, and information about music library registration fees.

Hello!!!

I hope this letter finds everyone in good health and enjoying your summer. We are starting to schedule lesson times for the Fall of 2024. Please note on your calendars: the first day of lessons is Sunday, August 25th, the Sunday before Labor Day. This is the time of year when I schedule fall lessons and try to finish other summer projects. I will be working on the schedule every day so please feel free to contact me by email or phone about lesson times.

Below is a list of dates when we will begin contacting you about lesson times.

Scheduling Private Lesson times

August 1-24: You will receive an email or a call from your private teacher by the week of August 17th to schedule a private lesson time. We will assume you are taking from the same teacher as last spring unless other arrangements have been made. If you are not planning on taking lessons this fall, please let me know as soon as possible.

Scheduling Group Lesson times

August 1-August 10: We will be contacting returning students that took hour-long group lessons in the spring of 2024. We are currently scheduling those classes.

August 11-24: We will be scheduling new group students and returning students that took the ½-hour Kindergarten/1st grade class during the spring of 2024. We will also schedule new students in our ½-hour Kindergarten/1st grade classes. Please feel free to schedule other activities your children may have. I usually have 2 or 3 classes at the same level on different days. We can usually work around conflicts.

Fees for the 2024-2025 school year

We will be returning to our monthly billing format starting with September invoices. Students are charged the same amount each month for lessons. Students will have 34 lessons during the school year. There is no additional charge for practice recitals or recitals at the Lawrence Arts Center.

Group Lessons:

  • Eric Sakumura and Assistants: 1 hour group lesson $84.00 per month*
  • ½ hour group lesson $45.00 per month*

Private Lessons:

  • Eric Sakumura: ½ hour lesson weekly $116.00 per month*
  • Jen Hosler, Laura King, John Eldridge, Gina Lorenz: ½ hour lesson weekly $110.00 per month*
  • Other teachers: ½ hour lesson weekly $104.00 per month

*There is a $18/month discount for each additional family member ($9/mo for ½-hour class)

You will be e-mailed monthly invoices that contain lesson fees and also a monthly newsletter with lesson and recital information. There is no additional charge for the practice recitals or the recitals at the Lawrence Arts Center.

Music Library/Registration Fee

At Lawrence Piano Studio we have a music library to provide our students with method books, supplementary material, duet books and sight reading books. We have found this to be quite useful because we are able to use a number of different methods. Each method stresses different types of reading skills and we believe that our students benefit from the variety of approaches.

Note: Students may keep a library book if it contains “one of those special pieces” the student would like to play in the future.

1 time per year charge: $30.00 ($55.00/Family)

Please let me know if you have any questions and I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer.

— Eric
