March 2026 Newsletter

Spring break schedule, group studio recital details, and spring recital preparation at the Lawrence Arts Center.

Spring Break

There are no regularly scheduled lessons March 15th-21st for Spring Break. (Students that have lessons on Saturday or Sunday will have a lesson on one of those weekends. Please consult with your teacher for the exact date.) These cancellations coincide with the Lawrence Public School Spring Break. If you have any questions, please contact me at lawrencepiano@sbcglobal.net.

Group Studio Recitals

All students enrolled in group lessons will have a studio recital the week of March 30th, two weeks after Spring Break. The recital will begin 15 minutes after the normal start time of each class.

Students should arrive at their regular lesson time to warm up with the class.

The exact date and time will be at the top of each student’s weekly assignment sheet beginning on March 9th. There will not be a reception following this recital.

We will not be offering a Zoom link for these studio recitals. I will encourage audience members to “Facetime” with anyone that would like to view the recital remotely.

For the upcoming group recital, each student should have an Ensemble Piece, a Solo (from memory), and a Composition or an improvisation.

Spring Recital (All Students)

All students enrolled in piano lessons (Group and Private) will have a recital at the Lawrence Arts Center between May 18th and May 21st.

The first practice recital will be the week of April 20th. This will be at Lawrence Piano Studio. Students in group lessons will have their 1st practice recital during class that week. Students in private lessons will sign-up for practice recital times.

The second practice recital will be the week of May 4th. This will be at the Lawrence Arts Center in the lower lobby.

Each student will be asked to play 1 or 2 solos from memory.

Sign-up emails for the two practice recitals and the Spring Recital will be e-mailed to you at the beginning of April.

Practice Tips

  1. Please try to find time each day that you can go to the piano and practice. As the weather improves and spring activities begin there will be less time spent indoors and practice time can suffer. Some people find that practicing in the morning before school allows them to be free for after school activities and their attention span is better.

  2. Practice slowly and carefully. Imperfect practice results in practiced imperfections.
