April 2025 Newsletter

Spring recital sign-up information, practice recital schedules, summer lesson details, and a call to help boost enrollment through referrals and social media.

Spring Recitals

All students will have the opportunity to perform in a recital at the Lawrence Arts Center scheduled for May 19th-22nd.

Signing up for recital times

We will be using the “My Music Staff” website for students to sign up for practice recitals and the Spring Recital. I will send an email the second week of April that will have a list of the practice recital and recital times for your teacher. Parents can then log-in to the “My Music Staff” site and register for practice recitals and the Spring Recital by choosing a recital time from the calendar. The Spring Recital sign up email will include instructions on how to register for recitals.

Please choose recital times, even if you are not sure of your schedule the week of the recitals. If a conflict arises after you choose a recital time, please call or e-mail me to make changes.

1st Practice Recital

Group lessons: The first practice recital for all students in group lessons will be held during their regular class time the week of April 21st. This practice recital is at Lawrence Piano Studio. Students in group lessons will not sign up for a separate 1st practice recital.

Private lessons: The 1st Practice Recital for all students enrolled in private lessons will be held Friday April 25th – Sunday April 27th. The 1st Practice Recital time(s) for your teacher will be listed on your Spring Recital sign-up email.

The 1st Practice Recital will be held at: Lawrence Piano Studio, 2512 W. 6th Ste B

2nd Practice Recital (Group and Private)

The 2nd Practice Recital for all students will be held on: Tuesday, May 6th – Thursday, May 8th. The 2nd Practice Recital time(s) for your teacher will be listed on your Spring Recital sign-up email.

The 2nd Practice Recital will be held in the Lower Lobby at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire.

Spring Recital (Group and Private)

All the Spring Recitals will be held May 19th – May 22nd in the main theater at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire. The Spring Recital time(s) for your teacher will be listed on your Spring Recital sign-up email.

If none of the recital times work for your schedule, please let me know. I do have recital times available other than those listed on your sign-up sheet.

We will offer a Zoom link for all the Spring Recitals. We will send a Zoom invitation for each recital the week before the Spring Recitals. This will allow family or friends, either in town or out of town, to attend the recital remotely.

We will have a reception following the Spring Recitals in the lower lobby at the Lawrence Arts Center.

Students not participating in the Spring Recital

Any student not playing in the Spring Recital will have a private lesson the week of May 18th. Your teacher may have to re-schedule the lesson time if it conflicts with their scheduled recitals at the Lawrence Arts Center.

Boosting our enrollment

The pandemic drastically reduced our total enrollment and retention, just as it did to many other extracurriculars nationwide. We truly appreciate all the students that have continued lessons during this period. As we continue our recovery from that difficult period, there are a couple ways you can help us via word of mouth.

  1. Social Media: Facebook @ lawrencepiano & Instagram @lawrencepianostudio — Laura King will be posting content about the studio. We would appreciate a follow on either platform, and would also love a “like” or “share” on these posts.
  2. Referral credit: We would like to offer a $50 referral lesson credit. If a new student enrolls with us and lets us know you have recommended us, we will issue you a $50 credit towards your next month’s lesson fees. This offer will be limited to one $50 credit per family.

Summer Lessons

I will be e-mailing information about Summer Lessons and Fall 2025 enrollment in April. During the summer we teach private piano lessons (during the day and in the evening) and offer group Beginning Piano Workshops. If you have any questions concerning the summer schedule, please give me a call or contact me by email. Summer lessons begin on June 2nd.

Practice Tips: Spring Recital

  1. Make up a story to go along with each piece, this makes the piece come alive and gives you something to think about during the performance.
  2. Highlight the dynamic markings and follow them each time you play the piece. Dynamics are what keep a piece interesting for both the performer and the audience.
